If you haven't heard yet, there's a new business picking up steam in Dallas/Fort Worth, and it has the potential to be a huge game-changer in the apartment locator service industry.
You Rent We Split, the brain child of Michael Ivey, recently launched its online apartment locator service with the two goals of 1) being a user-friendly apartment database and 2) getting you as much cash back as possible for signing a lease.
We all know that apartment complexes have referral programs where if you get your friend to sign a lease, you get some sort of money back for getting them to live there. Sometimes it is $100, sometimes it is a percentage off your next month's rent, or sometimes it is a cookie. Well apparently there is a whole other ballgame being played behind the scenes with apartment locators that makes that delicious chocolate chip Toll House you got for free look like... well, a stupid cookie.
What is shocking is what the apartment complexes in DFW are paying for referrals - sometimes up to 200% of one month's rent. Not a bad chunk of change for something you were going to do already (sign a lease). So why not get $2,250 cash back on that luxury uptown apartment you were going to get anyways while your at it?
You get money in your pocket, YRWS gets money their pocket, and the apartment complex gets a new tenant. It is a win-win-win scenario.
Though some competition exist in the market, most notably the free move sites that offer a free move or $100 - $200 cash back, their proposal pales in comparison to what is being offered by YRWS. (Not to mention their horribly constructed websites.) You Rent We Split has pulled back the curtain to reveal that the man behind the curtain has been pocketing a ridiculous amount of cash and been cutting you out of the loop. Well, that doesn't have to happen anymore.
There are no hidden fees, no loopholes, no smoke and mirrors - in fact, YWRS has set out a goal of being as transparent as possible, listing right there on their website exactly how much the referral fee is for each apartment. So you know when going in to sign your lease exactly what your cut will be. And believe me, it will be much more than you will get anywhere else.
The steps are easy:
- You find the apartment you would like to rent.
- When signing the lease, you put "You Rent We Split" as the person who referred you to them.
- Click "Claim reward" next to your apartment to notify them that you have signed a lease.
- And BAM. When they get paid, you get paid. It is that easy.
I cannot say how highly I recommend this service to anyone looking to rent an apartment in the Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex. And there may be hope coming soon for those of you living outside of the area. Mike has already stated that he would like to move into other markets such as Austin and Houston once the model has been proven in DFW, something that I am sure will not take long.
If only he was able to get this up and running in Nashville by the time we move in August...
